In Honor of Sandy Mortensen
(Can’t make the dinner, make a donation in honor of Sandy. Be sure to fill out the tribute information.)
Sandy moved to Summit County in 1977. Volunteering began immediately, helping in the schools and serving on numerous boards in Summit County. She also participated in raising money for several projects in the new Dillon Valley elementary school, The Riverwalk Center in Breckenridge and Colorado Mountain College new building.
When the National Repertory Orchestra moved to Keystone, she rarely missed a concert. 1997 Nancy Follett invited her to join the NRO Board and was elected chair 2004 and 2005. In 2006 she and 3 fellow past NRO board members established the Sustainers of the NRO. This group continues to support the NRO with Sandy as the chair. In1991 she joined the Summit County Rotary Club, served as chair of their charitable fund, was president 2007-08, and is currently District Governor 2018-19 for Rotary District 5450.
Born in New Jersey and raised in Denver and New Jersey, Sandy is the mother of four grown children and 5 grand children. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison, WI in Physical Therapy. Before retiring in 2001, she operated 3 Physical Therapy clinics. Skiing in the winter, hiking and golf in the summer keep her active. Reading and traveling fill in the gaps. Since August 2002 Sandy has been happily living with Lou Wagner, fellow Rotarian and supporter of the NRO
